Danette Sperry is an outsider/self-taught folk artist born 1962 who lives in the small town of Maysville, GA. with her husband, also a folk artist, John Sperry. They both love collecting and furnishing their home and studio with primitive antiques and folk art. Danette has been creating some form of art since her childhood. A full-time artist for over 20 years, she creates primitive furniture, primitive folk art sculptures (using reclaimed wood with vintage objects), and folk art paintings, concentrating on a new medium of two-dimensional relief on wood using a unique, self-developed technique. Each piece incorporates elaborate attention to detail bringing out the personality of her subjects. She loves painting angels & animals, especially birds and dogs, though she does not limit herself to those subjects. Her art gives her happiness in creating and that's what she loves to do!
